The vasectomy reversal procedure surgically restores the patency of the vas deferens.
It applies to men who have previously undergone a vasectomy and have changed their plans regarding their desire to have a child and wish to restore their fertility. Microsurgical anastomosis of the vas deferens with an operating microscope is considered the most effective surgical method.

Stage 1
How to prepare for the procedure
Vasectomy reversal is preceded by a consultation with the anaesthetist, during which he/she becomes acquainted with the patient’s condition. The patient is informed of the detailed preparation plan by the attending physician and the medical staff.
Stage 2

The procedure begins by making bilateral small incisions on the scrotum and extracting the ends of the vas deferens.
Stage 3
Anastomosis of vas deferens ends
After removing the scarred ends of the vas deferens, the physician anastomoses the ends of the vas deferens to restore the flow of semen into the urethra during ejaculation.
Stage 4
Procedure success check
The presence of sperm in the semen is established a few weeks post-operatively by means of a semen test (semen profile).

Vasectomy reversal is a procedure for men who:
- Have changed their reproductive plans and wish to restore their fertility after vasectomy;
- In some cases, vasectomy can cause testicular pain, vasectomy reversal can alleviate this pain.
Vasectomy reversal is intended for patients who choose to restore the patency of their vas deferens.
The procedure will not be carried out if inflammation is found in the testis, epididymis or scrotal sac.
- Seven days before surgery, you should take the following blood tests for the purposes of anaesthesia: APTT, PT, sodium, potassium, and blood count;
- Have a blood type result (the result is valid for life);
- Report for the surgery 30 minutes earlier to complete documents and prepare for the procedure;
- On the day of surgery, your stomach should be empty, please refrain from eating and drinking (including water), and smoking for 6-8 hours before the surgery;
- Please remember to keep hydrated the day before the procedure;
- Shave the body part that will be operated on and your right leg from groin to knee;
- Wear comfortable clothes, such as T-shirt, sweatpants or other loose pants, zipped sweatshirt;
- Have with you still water and light snacks (e.g. sandwiches, sweet buns, yoghurt);
- After the procedure, you will stay in the clinic for 2-6 hours (depending on the anaesthesiologist’s decision); afterwards, you will be allowed to go home.
- Due to the administered medication, the patient must not leave the clinic alone; a trusted person (family or friends) must be asked to pick him up from the clinic.
